LU Guo-ying 陸國英

Lu was born in Shanghai, China in 1925. She graduated with excellence from the Suzhou Fine Arts School in 1947 then became professor there. In 1955, she gained admission into the Central Academy of Fine Arts and studied painting under Russian painter Максимов. K.M. She returned to teach at the Nanking Art College in 1957. Lu has great painting skills and excels in the subjects of still life, flowers, and portrait. Her brush runs freely on the canvas, her composition is rich, color vivid and blossoms with the joy of life. A never seen before strength appears in her later works, it is a kind of unchained passion, a return of youth, and an elevation of spirit. In 1957, her oil painting “Peasant” was reproduced in an art magazine in Russia, and in Renmin Ribao. In 1995, her work was selected in China Oil Painting Competition and also in Chinese Contemporary Oil Painting Exhibition in 1997.
