Chinese 1961

Luo Fahui is a prominent contemporary Chinese artist. He was born in Chongqing, China, in 1961, and currently lives and works in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. Luo received a solid artistic education, graduating from the Affiliated High School of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1981 and earning his B.F.A. in Oil Painting from the same institution in 1985.

Luo's artistic style is characterized by expressionistic and symbolistic approaches. His early work gained significant recognition for its recurring "rose" motif. He integrates the imagery of flowers with the female form, using vibrant, intense colors and powerful brushwork to explore themes of desire, life, death, and the portrayal of women in a consumer society. Aesthetically, his paintings exhibit a unique visual impact that merges Eastern and Western artistic languages.

His work is widely recognized internationally. Since the 1990s, Luo Fahui has actively participated in numerous domestic and international art events. Between 1990 and 2003, he held solo exhibitions in cities including Seattle (USA), London (UK), Beijing, Chengdu, Taipei (Taiwan), and Hong Kong. Notable group exhibitions include the "1st Chengdu Biennale - Sample on the Shelf" at the Chengdu Museum of Contemporary Art (2001), and the "Image Wuyi - First Face-to-Face Creative Interaction between Chinese and German Artists International Tour Exhibition" (China, Germany, 2006). In the same year, he held a solo exhibition titled "Floating Desire: Oil Paintings by Luo Fahui" at the Art Museum of the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou.
