ZHONG Shou-Ren 鍾壽仁
Taiwanese 1927-1999

Zhong Shou-Ren was born in Zhejiang with sobriquet Dong Yang and a studio named Huanbi Xuan. He was graduated from the University of the Philippines, Manila. During his art education, he followed Chen Fang and thus he excelled in painting the "four gentlemen (plum blossoms, orchids, chrysanthemums and bamboo)", with Bamboo being the most outstanding series. He painted bamboo with swift strokes and excellent control of ink satuation, forming distinctive layers. His calligraphy was similar to the Two Wangs. He took prominently roles for the Nationalist Government of the Republic of China, and was the appointed as the judicial registrar of the Presidential Office. Later he worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines. During his lifetime, he received the Zhongshan Arts Award as a recognition of his contribution in arts.
