YANG Xian, courtesy names Jian Shan and Miaosou, was from Zhejiang province. Starting as a Juyen, he eventually rose to the position of magistrate in Changzhou, Songjiang, and other prefectures. He gained renown in the late Qing Dynasty for his mastery of clerical script and was known as the teacher of Wu Changshuo.
