Izumi AKIYAMA 秋山泉

Izumi Akiyama was born in 1982 in Yamanashi, Japan. She received a Master of Fine Arts from Tokyo University of the Arts. The artist is proficient in still-life drawings, which the motif is usually white porcelain pots, vases, candles, and curtains. Each work has similar backgrounds, producing silent, slow, tranquil, and gentle perception of time. Akiyama pursues simplification in her works, removing all the unnecessary information and reflecting on an optimal state of harmony between the space and the subject.
Akiyama received a Jury Prize at the 2012 Art Award Next Ⅱ held at the Tokyo Art Club, and her artwork was collected by Benetton Foundation and Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art, Japan. Other than her rich experience in holding exhibitions in Japan, she has also participated in several international art fairs and group exhibitions in New York, London, Philippine, and Basel.
