Tsai Yi-Ting, born in 1981 in Hsinchu, Taiwan, graduated from National Taipei University of the Arts. MA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, UK. She has had solo and group exhibitions throughout Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, the UK, Germany, and beyond.
Tsai's paintings serve as a diary documenting different stages of her life. She captures the ordinary moments of her closest family. Combining her understanding and emotions towards them, she transforms these moments into emotionally rich portraits. The somewhat distorted and enigmatic faces paradoxically reveal an inexplicable authenticity of emotional expression and the lively spirit of being human.
