Courtesy name Zhu-bin, art name Mohu Waishi, a native of Wujiang, Jiangsu. A Qing dynasty painter skilled in landscape painting, he initially followed Wang Xue-hao and Xi Gang, later incorporating the brushwork style of Wen Zheng-ming. His brushwork is vigorous, craggy, and lofty in conception, earning him great fame in Suzhou. Late Qing masters such as Hu Gong-shou and Yang Bo-run both studied under him.
