HSIEH Tong-liang 謝棟樑
Taiwanese 1949
Born in Wufeng, Taichung. Hsieh graduated from National Taiwan University of Arts, Department of Sculpture in 1971. He is the first sculptor who honorably received the Qualification of Permanent Pre-screening Exemption in Taiwan Provincial Fine Art Exhibition. Also, he pioneered in the adoption of fiberglass in sculpture. He keeps transforming his works but always values human dignity and worth, emphasizes the relationships and interactions between people. Through different forms, his creative spirit remains the same. He incorporates “Tao of Tai Chi” into his recent works. Hsieh’s works can be seen in three major art museums in Taiwan. Solo exhibitions: First Solo Exhibition in Taipei Fine Arts Museum in 1985, National Museum of History in 1989, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in 1989 and 1994, Shanghai Art Museum in 2012.
