In 1998, Sung graduated from RCA with an MFA. In 2001, her first solo exhibition was hosted in Window Gallery in Seoul. As one of the most important abstract artists in post-war South Korea, she has participated exhibitions globally, including multiple art museums and galleries in Denmark, New York, Shanghai, etc. Her painting works are excellently executed with the beauty of forms and colours, with exquisite and fine strokes. Her feminine approach has pushed the boundary of the monotone on colours and the limitation of medium materials in traditional Korean paintings. Both her paper works and mural works are uniquely signatural, formed her own language in paintings.
