Bryan Ida was born in 1963, now works and lives in Los Angeles. He uses acrylic, epoxy, and polyester to create multiple layers of artwork, forms conversation between diverse angles, colours, urban scenes, and nature. Ida has participated in multiple exhibitions in The U.S., including Lancaster Museum of Art and History, Riverside Art Museum, Torrance Art Museum, Long Beach Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art LA, etc.
Bryan Ida has studied and practiced with renowned artist Sam Francis in his studio for many years. Inheriting Francis’s bold and unstrained colour palette, combined his musical experience, Ida has developed a unique expression in his art. His skillful techniques laid a solid foundation of his statement. By layering six or seven coats of epoxy, his artworks possess a three-dimensional nature, pushing the boundary of ‘graphic’. He recently also started using polyester in his creation, took advantage of the light nature of the medium, he is able to layer more than 200 coats and present a more detailed delicacy. For Ida, memory is an emotionalized experience.
