EMU was born in Okayama, Japan. After working as a Graphic designer, he embarked on his career as an artist in 2016. His creative style primarily features characters composed of curved forms and rounded contours. At times, these characters gather in groups, while other times they stand alone, presenting various postures and poses that reflect everyday life in a comfortable manner. Using these characters as models, EMU creates paintings and small wooden sculptures. The materials for his creations are upcycled from discarded wood scraps found in shipyards, promoting environmental friendliness and advocating for a simple lifestyle. EMU has held solo exhibitions in Japan, France, Singapore and Taiwan, and collaborated with brands such as NIKE, Pokémon, and Netflix.
