LU Fo-ting 呂佛庭
Taiwanese 1911-2005

Born in 1911 in Henan Province, Lu Fo-Ting almost opted for being a monk at an early age but failed, hence he was called "half monk" as named his studio after this. Inspired by his father at an early age, Lu practised calligraphy, paintings and literature. He studied in the Peking Academy of Fine Arts, where he practised Western paintings and later pursued Chinese paintings. The artist arrived in Taiwan by 1948. Since then, he taught at the National Taichung University of Education until his retirement. He was invited to teach at the National Taiwan Normal University, the Chinese Cuture University. This proves his devotion to art development in Taiwan.
