The boulder is made of a whole piece of jade, carved to the front face with two figures riding horses along a rocky path towards a pavilion high up a mountain towards a pavilion surrounded by thick high trees, the reverse similarly carved with two scholars sitting and standing next to a water-fall deep in conversation. The stone of pale celadon tone is large in scale and shows delicate design.
