+ OVERVIEW
Born in Taichung in 1995, Ji Shao-Yuan graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Tunghai University. His works primarily delve into the conflicts and harmonies within human relationships. His recent exhibitions include solo at the Golden Car Art and Cultural Center and group exhibitions such as the 2023 Kaohsiung YANG Art Fair and the STAART Asia Illustration Art Fair. In Ji's paintings, the interactions between people resemble a wrestling match of fingers, struggling and pulling in a small space. The artist skillfully employs highly saturated contrasting color schemes and timely, sometimes restrained, sometimes wild brushstrokes, creating a constant dynamic state in the images. He conceals the complexities of human nature and emotions within the paintings, as if searching for the game or allegory of existence and relationships.
The painting "Crown of freedom" depicts the complex emotional relationship of mutual reliance and restraint between pets and their owners. Perhaps what we should never forget as owners is the privilege of truly feeling and learning what is unconditional and utterly pure love.
