The statue is a standing figure of Guanyin looking downwards peacefully with a high nose and slightly closed thin lips. The hands are gently put at the front, holding a pure bottle, symbolizing peace among mankind. The loosely tied long cloak flows gently with the wind, demonstrating outstanding craftsmanship. Guanyin Bodhisattva is the Goddess of Mercy and Wisdom to relieve sufferings from the people. Serenity is depicted by the expression and posture of the goddess which is carved with great attention to detail. Excellent craftsmanship could be observed. This figure is carved from jadeite, one of the hardest stones in the jade family. It is acclaimed as the king of the jades, due to its translucent and refined beauty. Since the Ming Dynasty, jadeite has been a beloved piece in China.
