Josh Sperling was Born in 1984 in Oneonta, New York, now Lives and works in Ithaca, New York. Josh Sperling draws on the language of minimalist painting from the 1960s and 1970s, primarily working with shaped canvases. He crafts intricate plywood supports over which canvas is stretched and painted in a signature palette of saturated, sometimes clashing colors. In their three-dimensionality, his works blur the lines between painting and sculpture, image and object. His vibrant, tidy, sweet and visually fragrant images light up the audience when they enter the space and see the artworks. After the solo exhibition in 2018 in Paris, he held his two solo exhibitions in Perrotin Seoul and Tokyo in 2019. In 2020, he held a solo exhibition in New York and at Perrotin Shanghai in the end of 2020.
